Starting to blog, Kay Endres-Reavis

Well I decided to get on this thing and start to share creative and not so creative thoughts and ideas. I met most of you at the open house and hope to meet more of you as the events or groups start to take shape.

Six months ago I returned from a two and a half years of sailing. My partner, now husband, Jim and I learned how to sail for the trip. We sold everything and took off July 2004. The sailing adventure all the way to Ireland was a life altering one, but the more significant one is about the relationship and changes with me and Jim. In learning how to write, I hope to give that story some life to share with others and parts on this blog. And invite feedback and commets

I've started a private practice in counseling families with young children. It is a narrow focus, but one that I feel excitement and motivated by. If anyone has ideas on how to spread the word I would appreciate all forms of suggestions. I read the book "Booked Solid" by Michael Port and currently working the ideas and exercises. It is a great marketing book for a service industry.

Again this is a start and will blog more. Kay Endres-Reavis

I'm excited to see that this is taking off now. I blog on other sites but I feel we can make this our very own. I was also at Nancy's gathering and met a lot of you there. Like Kay, I'm a therapist and have had a spiritually based private practice for about 16 years. Kay, I'll be glad to refer kids to you any chance I get. After meeting you and talking about what you do, I'm sure you'll do well. Also want to tell you that I'm in the Psychology Today directory and have gotten some good activity there.

Something I'd like to put out as a topic for people is fearlessness. It's a big one and very much dominating my mind these days. I think about you, Kay...out on the ocean with one other person. I bet we all want to hear THOSE stories. For me, this has been a pivital year in this regard. A lot of my old fears have been dropping away and that feels amazing. What seems to come in their place is a new energy and openness to try things. It's kind of ironic because it occurs as my body feels more vulnerable than ever and our political-environmental culture is more fearful than ever. There is something about being authentically engaged and involved and letting go. I'm really looking foreward to seeing how this site evolves.

Thank you Kay! I can't wait to hear more! Your experience/process around your sailing trip brings up facing the shadow for me. What a way for you and Jim to REALLY get to know each other....and to both be so vulnerable in so many ways. It seems that your relationship must certainly be grounded working though the day to day tasks and challenges of a long and sometimes very dangerous sailing trip. That must explain why you both seem so peaceful and respectful of each other. Wow, I would like to learn how to have that kind of relationship! Nancy

Diane - fearlessness is a fabulous topic! Kay's story reminds me of how fear can stop us/me from doing so many wonderful things that would enrich our/my life. Its really got me thinking... Nancy

So..Let me throw out an idea for a group and see if there is interest. I'm making some rather bold moves in my life right now (for me). I've been getting some real clarity about what my dreams are and how I want to live my life. I'm finding that even though the ideas feel big and therefore at times a little scary, it's the getting clear about them that is creating the excitement and passion I'm feeling that will give me the wherewithall to create the reality. My life is becoming an experiment and I want to see where it goes. There must be at least a few of you out there who would like the space to voice your dreams, figure out what they really are, have safe support/input from other women on materializing them. A place to feel you can do it, whether it's big or small. What is it you've always wanted to do? Learn a language, start a small business, get out of that boring job, move to Argentina, deepen your relationship, decorate your own room. Whatever it is, in the second half of life, we really can do it. Call me and let me know if this creates a spark and what your interest is. It could be fun and inspiring. 503 703-9073.
